Job Description Job Description: As a Microbiology Technician within the Advanced Measurement Sciences (AMS) department, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team playing a crucial role in the development of products created by R&D. The Microbiology group within AMS provides essential technical guidance and microbiological expertise to all Business Units (BUs), including US Retail Cleaning, Pro, Care & Connect (Foods, Litter, Charcoal, Glad, Renew Life, and Burt's Bees Personal Care), and International. The group works closely with multiple R&D teams, including our sister group within AMS, Analytical, and several other teams across all stages of the development cycle from concept to commercialization. Our state-of-the-art laboratory is located at the Pleasanton R&D campus in Pleasanton, California, and is expanding with new instruments coming online. The Role: The Microbiology Technician Cleaning R&D supports the Cleaning Business strategy to lead with top brands in cleaning, sanitization, and disinfection. This role involves supporting formulation development, establishing robust products, and developing methods for various initiatives. Responsibilities include preparing, executing, and analyzing laboratory tests under the guidance of Scientists and the Group Manager. The technician also implements tools and practices to increase microbiological capacity safely and effectively. The technician applies microbiological knowledge, primarily focusing on surface sanitization and disinfection, to develop and support test methods and projects across the businesses, collaborating with Scientists and other Technicians. Daily tasks include media preparation, routine testing, new test method development and validation, data analysis, and lab maintenance. Requirements: Execute a variety of microbiological experiments to support the business. Collaborate with scientists to analyze data and support project decisions. Continuously improve techniques to increase efficiency and capabilities. Manage laboratory upkeep, maintenance, and procurement of equipment and supplies. Develop professionally by learning new techniques and engaging in project discussions and presentations. Maintain active engagement in the microbiology community and stay updated on scientific advances. Contribute to best practices, safety, and integrity in the lab. Standardize knowledge management practices. Network effectively internally and externally. Communicate critical information clearly and effectively.
